1 min read

Lower Hutt CIB is investigating the death of a woman at a Poole Street, Taita, house this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Small, head of Lower Hutt CIB, says police were called to the house around 9am following an argument between a group of people in which a 52-year-old woman was seriously injured.

"Ambulance officers attended but were unable to revive the woman who died at the scene," Detective Senior Sergeant Small says.

A 54-year-old Lower Hutt man has been arrested and charged with murder. He will be appearing in the Lower Hutt District Court this afternoon.

The woman’s name won’t be released until next of kin have been informed. A post mortem is likely to happen later today.

A homicide crime scene investigation, area canvass and the interviewing of witness is continuing.
