Teens killed in crash

1 min read

Two 17 year-olds and a 15 year-old boy were killed in last night’s crash when the car they were in, a 1989 Ford Falcon, hit a tree on Hendon Ave, Mt Albert, at about 10.55pm.

The deceased were:

• Trevor Lolohea, 15, a student, from New Windsor;
• Ifoni Tapueluelu, 17, a student, from Avondale;
• Sonasi Paasi, 17, a hospitality worker, from New Windsor.

Next of kin of all deceased have been advised. The two survivors of the crash, the driver and another passenger, will undergo surgery in Auckland Hospital today.

Acting Senior Sergeant Scott Leonard said the investigation into the triple fatality crash was ongoing and legal action was likely.

"We believe speed was a factor in the crash and it’s possible alcohol was also involved, but we can’t be sure of anything at this early stage in the investigation," Mr Leonard said.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the red Ford Falcon car, registration OG3518, and its occupants at any time before 10.55 last night.
