Youth driver charged

The 16 year old female driver of a vehicle which crashed last night has been remanded in custody. Her 16 year old female passenger was remanded on bail.

The driver was charged with reckless driving and failure to stop. Both were charged with breach of bail.

The crash occurred on New Brighton Road last night around 7.30pm after the vehicle was clocked on radar by a plain police car, allegedly travelling at 150km/hr on ANZAC Drive. The car crashed a short time afterwards, within a km of first being sighted.

The 16 year old female driver and her 16 year old female youth passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released into police custody.
