Police officer stood down

1 min read

Canterbury District Police are investigating the supply of cannabis to a group of North Canterbury school students. It is understood that nine teenage children were using cannabis at a school camp.

The source of the cannabis relates to cannabis exhibits in the possession of police says Superintendent Sandra Manderson, District Commander.

"As criminal charges may be laid there is a limit to the amount of information we can make public at this stage," she says.

Internal police disciplinary processes have begun in relation to insecure storage and disposal of exhibits.

"As a result a police officer has been stood down today in relation to this," says Superintendent Manderson.
