Media conference tomorrow
The Wanaka Police advise that they will hold a media conference tomorrow with the parents of missing Englishman Michael Johnson but until they meet and talk with Johnsons, they cannot confirm a place or time. They are asking media to wait until they are contacted.
Sergeant Aaron Nicholson of Wanaka Police says that Mr and Mrs Johnson should arrive in Wanaka tonight and he understands that they feel comfortable about talking with the media about the disappearance of their son who has not been heard from in 28 days.
"Until I have seen and spoken to them I cannot make a time," says Sergeant Nicholson. "When we do we will notify you by all the usual channels plus on the police web site. Please do not contact us as we are unable to answer the phones and conduct our work. We shall let you know as soon as it is arranged but I would hope it would be by early tomorrow afternoon."
Michael Johnson left to attempt a southern traverse and has not been heard from for 28 days. Police have been searching in the Matukituki Valley area and are appealing for anyone who has met or seen Michael to contact them.
