1 min read

The search has resumed this morning for a man, missing after a dinghy overturned off Whangaparaoa Peninsula, last night.

The Police Eagle helicopter and vessel Deodar are taking part in the search.

Senior Sergeant Phil Paratene says, "There are good weather conditions for the search this morning and a decision will be made later about the involvement of the Police Dive team from Wellington."

A search was begun last night about 6:45pm, after residents of Matakatia Bay heard screams from the men after the dinghy overturned. Senior Sergeant Paratene says, "Two of the men were located holding to the dinghy, it is believed the third man, who remains missing, went to swim to land."

It is believed none of the trio was wearing life jackets.
