1 min read

Christchurch Police have not ruled out foul play as nothing has been heard of 21 year old Mitchelle (pronounced Michelle), Singh (Merriman) for nine days.

"We have very grave fears for her safety and her health," says Detective Sergeant Wendy Riach. "This totally out of character for her."

Mitchelle was last seen at 9.30am on Monday 16 August leaving a business premises in Tuam Street.

Michelle is a chronic asthmatic and urgently needs her medication, but this is still at her home and has not been touched. Detective Wendy Riach says that Mitchelle usually kept in contact with her family and friends.

Her mother reported her missing when she failed to return home where she was living with her. Detective Sergeant Riach says that all the usual contacts and checks have been carried out but there have been no more sightings of her.

Mitchelle is described as caucasian, about 163 cm ( 5’4") tall, of solid build with long, curly, brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black pin stripe skirt, a black top and black, knee high boots.

Eight staff are working on the inquiry.

If anyone has seen this young woman or has any knowledge of her could they please contact Christchurch Police immediately on 03 363 7400.
