1 min read

Iraena Asher made a triple one call to Northern Communications from an address in Piha and asked for assistance at 9pm on Sunday evening October 10th

A patrol car was not sent, police phoned back to advise Ms Asher a taxi was on its way. Ms Asher then left the property.

Northern Communications next received a call at 1:19am on Monday morning from a person who had found Iraena earlier on Sunday evening on a street in Piha and took her back to a house with concerns for her wellbeing. Iraena had left that house at about 1:10am with no explanation. A police vehicle was sent at 1:25am from Henderson and arrived in Piha half an hour later with immediate checks at an address in Piha.

The inquiry into the handling of the call is already underway with a report to police management in a week.

This matter is being handled completely separate to the search for Iraena Asher and the missing person inquiry.
