Operation Wellington team appeals for information.

1 min read

Op Wellington team is appealing for information in regards to a person of interest to the investigation.

Between early and mid December 2004 a male exposed himself to a 12 year old boy near the Memorial Hall, Wellington Road, Marton.

The 12 year old boy was in a bush area, near a track to an area known locally as "the Lost Acre".

He observed a male ride past him on the track on two occasions. The male returned a short time later and exposed himself before masturbating whilst the child was watching.

He then approached the child and spoke indecently to him before the child was able to run off.

The male is described as:

• Maori, aged 35-40 years

• Approx 180 cm (6 foot tall) and solid thickset build

• Short hair, No. 1 or 2 cut

• Yellow teeth and wrinkly face

• Visible small tattoos below his eyes

It is believed this person is a local as he has been seen by the child in Marton since the event.

I am interested in identifying this person to eliminate him as a person of interest to the murder of Mona MORRISS.

Although occurring approximately four weeks prior to the murder, this event occurred in close proximity to the block of flats that Mona resided in.

Calls can be made to 0800 4 WELLINGTON (0800 493 554) or visit your local Police Station.
