Body of unknown female found in vacant lot
The body of an as yet unidentified female was discovered in a vacant lot on Peterborough Street this morning. The body is still at the scene and at this time police do not know who she is.

"We are appealing for anyone who knows of someone who has not come home last night as expected, or anyone with information to contact us," says Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Harvey.

A member of the public alerted police at 9am to the body near the Park Tce end of Peterborough Street. The road is closed off.

The body is still at the scene and the early phase of an inquiry has begun says Detective Senior Sergeant Harvey.

"It appears from early inquiries that an incident has occurred in the area between 5 -5.30am."

There is a team of about 20 police officers plus specialist staff and ESR on the inquiry. An area canvas has begun.
