Police were called by the public to the vicinity of Stanmore Road and Armagh Street shortly before 5am this morning.
Reports of raised voices and possibly gun shots were reported to police by the public. Police went to the area and subsequently located the body of a male person, as yet unidentified, in the vicinity of the street.
DSS Dave Long says that police are interested in any sightings of vehicles or other unusual happenings in the area before the incident.
The scene examination is expected to take some time. Stanmore Road is closed between Gloucester Street and Avonside Drive and is likely to be closed most of the day
