Early morning lock out

1 min read

Police were called to an Avondale address last weekend after a vigilant person in the community heard a window being broken.

A resident called police around 12.45 am on Sunday morning, 23 August and a police patrol responded. However on approaching the address they saw a samurai sword and ammunition belt in a vehicle outside so promptly cordoned the house and called AOS.

The AOS contacted the occupant of the house and a man appeared at the door. It turns out the man had been to a fancy dress party but his partner had locked him out of the house and he had broken a window to get in. On close inspection the sword and money belt were clearly props.

The resident is to be thanked for their vigilance. It is not known what the man and his partner said to each other!

Inspector Bryan Buck says that police have to respond fully if there is doubt about the security of a situation.
