Christchurch Police are seeking any information about an unusual stabbing. On 23 August 2009 at about 2am there was a stabbing in Struthers Lane near Tuam Street. The offender has used a pair of old style shearing shears to intimidate then stab the victim. The victim sustained major injuries to his hand and fingers.

The offender left in a dark coloured Nissan Terrano 4WD. It has a chrome nudge bar on the front and Terrano sign written down the side. It also had a spare wheel on the rear. (See CCTV picture). The driver has driven from Tuam Street through to Hereford with his lights off.

Offender has been described as a light skinned Maori or Polynesian, 25-35 years, 172-177 cm tall (5'8-5'10), number one haircut, dark hair and with a chubby face. He was with a blonde female who witnesses have said was about the same height.
