Advisory on joint Police and RNZAF exercise

1 min read

Police and the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) will be conducting joint training around Palmerston North and Wellington next week.

This annual exercise involves members of the police Special Tactics Group (STG) and No 3 Squadron, RNZAF.

Iroquios helicopters will be operating around the Palmerston North area on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September. The focus then shifts to Wellington on Wednesday 16th September with an evening exercise involving the Iroquios.

Superintendent Bruce Dunstan, Commander: National Tactical Groups, said exercises such as these are held regularly.

"We need to ensure police and other agencies have the appropriate skills plus the systems in place to work together should the need arise as required by Government."

"Residents in both areas may see activity involving helicopters and police personnel"

"We'll aim to cause as little disturbance as possible and hope people will understand the importance of us carrying out these types of exercises"
