Edward Sai Louie – Statement from family
We are devastated we have lost a son, a brother and a grandson. During his eighteen years Eddy lived life to the full. Edward was passionate about the outdoors, and chose to attend Canterbury University to be close to the mountains. Ed was keen on skiing, adventure racing, and protecting the environment. Eddy had the most amazing sense of humour and was always looking for an adventure. He is incredibly tough and accomplished a lot in his life. We will miss him so much and words can not describe our pain. Although this is a terrible loss, he was in the mountains doing something he loved. It has been hard for us to accept that we have lost Eddy but we understand that everything that can be done has been done. We appreciate the efforts of his climbing companion, Search and Rescue teams, the Police, the Department of Conservation and all concerned. A memorial service will be held for him.
