Hamilton Police have a warning for those tempted to buy cheap goods at too good to be true prices- it is too good to be true and you will face prosecution for receiving.
The call comes after the overnight arrest of four people found by a Police patrol in a stolen car on Clarkin Rd.
Hamilton City Are Commander, Inspector Rob Lindsay, said the Honda car had been reported stolen early yesterday morning.
"The driver told officers he'd bought for $150 from a man he didn't know at the Bader St shops.
"As a result he has been charged with receiving stolen goods and the three other people in the car have been charged with being unlawfully in a motor-vehicle."
Mr Lindsay said often people before the courts on receiving charges received harsher sentences than the actual burglars or thieves.
"This is because society recognises that people receiving stolen goods are creating the market, people don't steal things they can't on-sell- there would be no point if they couldn't make money from it."
Meanwhile five males aged from 14 through to their early 20s will appear in the Hamilton Youth Court today after they were arrested on burglary charges early this morning.
The five were arrested in relation to burglaries of a supermarket on Heaphy Tce about 11.30pm and a restaurant on Sandwich Rd about 2.30am.
Enquiries are continuing into if any of the group are connected to similar commercial burglaries in the area last week.
