Christchurch Police are investigating an incident that occurred last night leaving a 24 year old male with critical chest wounds.

Police believe at about 10.20pm last night there was an incident at a Radley Street address when there was an altercation between the occupants. It is understood windows were broken and the offenders left in a red Mazda Astina car.

Around 11.30pm last night shots were heard at an address in Gould Street, also in Woolston. Police AOS were deployed and entered the address where Police are currently conducting a scene investigation.

A 24 year old man was brought to Christchurch Hospital last night by an associate where he was admitted. He is currently described as being in a critical condition with gun shot wounds to his chest.

Later last night a Mazda Astina was found in a burnt out condition on Marine Parade, New Brighton. It is believed to be the same vehicle as that involved in the incident at Radley Street.

DSS Dave Harvey says police are conducting an investigation into the injuries sustained by the 24 year old male. They are also conducting scene examinations at all three scenes and would like any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Christchurch Central on phone 363 7620.
