Name of pilot released in Wanaka helicopter crash

The pilot's name is Keith Andrew MacKenzie, born 27 October 1976, of Ontario, Canada. He was killed in the helicopter crash on Homestead Peak in the Aspiring National Park, near Wanaka yesterday.

He was in New Zealand on a work permit employed in the local tourism industry while he trained as a pilot to gain his commercial helicopter rating.

His family have been informed of his death.

A post-mortem is being carried out in Dunedin this morning.

The next of kin of the passenger have yet to be advised of his death and his name will be withheld until this has been done.
