A man has died and a woman has been seriously injured in a road crash in Opunake.
The crash happened around 3.40pm on SH45 north of the Opunake township. A Toyota people mover travelling south lost control on a moderate right-hand bend. It crossed the road, rolling over and hit a fence.
The driver, a 63-year-old man from Opunake died at the scene. A female passenger, believed to be in her 80s, has been taken to Taranaki Base Hospital with serious injuries.
Serious Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
