It's all on again, the best kids' challenge in Canterbury. The annual Blue Light Canterbury PCT Championships are at QE 2 this coming Friday.

Those of you who have been before will know the fun and exctitement as students from 32 teams (from 26 schools) compete for the championship.

The task seems simple (all reporters invited to try)! Simple; get around the Police PCT course as quickly as possible. This is the same course used to assess the fitness of New Zealand’s Police force.

This event is growing each year. With 32 teams the competition will be tough.

"We had to turn teams away this year. Something we hate to do" says Chris Martin, Coordinator for Blue Light Canterbury.

Despite the level of difficulty almost without exception the obstacles will be overcome and overcome with a high degree of competency if past years are anything to go by. With agility and energy envied by the Blue Light Staff, teams will take on the course twice each. At the end of the day the team with the fastest time will be declared the 2006 Champions.

A team to watch will be last year’s winners from Westburn School. Not only did they win last year, but also set a course record of 2 minutes 10.5 seconds.

As an added incentive this year the winners will be invited to travel to Auckland in May to represent Canterbury in the National Final.
