Body identified as Marice McGregor

The body recovered from a ravine on SH4 on Thursday (13 May) has now been formally identified as Marice McGregor who was last seen on Monday, 19 April. The family of Marice have been informed.

A post mortem was carried out over the weekend. Cause of death is yet to be determined and is a matter for the Coroner, but preliminary findings reveal that Marice had suffered head injuries.

An investigation is continuing into the disappearance of Marice, and Police are working closely with forensic experts to establish the circumstances that led to Marice's death.

An examination of the scene continued throughout the weekend. On completion of that examination on Sunday the area was blessed with a karakia. Police are continuing to consult with specialists and facilitate visits to the scene by those specialists to ensure that no stone goes unturned.
