Henderson Police have confirmed that a 22 year old female [DOB 20/06/1984], who was arrested at an operational road block yesterday, was subject to a mistaken identity.
Police say that Kylie Maree WILSON was arrested by an officer of the Traffic Alcohol Group [TAG] during a routine operation. She was arrested on warrants for failing to appear at Kaitaia District Court on 24 May 2006.
When arrested WILSON gave an address in Grey Lynn,and she produced a New Zealand passport showing her name and DOB.
It was later established that the existing warrants were in name of a person by the name of Kylie MARIE Wilson, an individual with a slightly different DOB.
Due to conflicting details given by WILSON to the two arresting officers, a senior member of Police made a series of further checks. These revealed that there were two individuals with a similar identity.
A photo of the 22 year old arrested female WILSON was obtained. This matched her identity along with other recorded information which WILSON confirmed was correct.
Police also made additional checks at an original address which she provided and this information subsequently proved to be false.
These detailed checks together with the additional information on hand, gave Police good cause to proceed with the arrest of WILSON on the belief there were outstanding warrants, and accordingly this has resulted in her appearance in the Waitakere District Court today.
