Police are appealing for sightings of a missing 41 year-old Mt Eden man whose bank account was last accessed near Te Papa in Wellington on October 13.

A family member reported John McGee missing the following day. Mr McGee is a Caucasian who is unmarried and lives alone. He is currently out of work and it's not known if he or someone else used his bank card to access funds on the 13th.

Police inquiries to date have revealed he left the Sky City Hotel at about 8.40 on the morning of October 11. He was last seen wearing a black Warriors long sleeved top, a brown or grey vest, denim jeans and white sneakers.

He has a shaved head and a fair or grey goatie, is of solid build and stands 5'10" tall.

Both arms are tattooed from the shoulders to the forearms and images include Morticia from The Adams Family on his right forearm while there's a scorpion depicted on the back of his neck.

Mr McGee does not own a vehicle and it's not known how he travelled to Wellington, if indeed he did.

Any information on his whereabouts should go to Sergeant Megan Dalton (09) 631 1026 or Auckland Central Police (09) 302 6400.
