Road Cyclist Seriously Injured

Police are investigating a serious road incident on North Shore late yesterday.

Police went to the scene of the accident on Gulf Harbour Drive near the intersection with Javelin Close, at about 5.45pm Monday 25 September 2006.

Constable Blair Atkinson of the Serious Crash Unit says when police arrived at the scene they found a road cyclist had collided with a Four Wheel Drive vehicle. An ambulance transported a 52 year old male to Auckland Hospital.

"The victim has severe injuries to his leg and other multiple fractures. His present condition is described as critical. The Serious Crash Unit is investigating this incident further," Constable Atkinson said.

Anyone who has witnessed this accident or was in the vicinity of Gulf Harbour Drive and Javelin Close at the time of 5.45pm yesterday is requested to contact Constable Blair Atkinson of the Serious Crash Unit on Telephone 09 481 0345
