Five charged over cafe incident

Police investigating a reported robbery at a cafe in Foxton in December have charged five people.

The incident occurred at the Tram Station Cafe in Foxton on Sunday, 19 December when two men burst into the cafe at approximately 1.30pm and took cash from the till.

The last of five arrests was made this morning. A 17-year-old man from Foxton, three men age, 17, 18 and 19 from Woodville, and an 18-year-old woman from Palmerston North have all been charged with aggravated burglary. The 17-year-old Foxton man has been additionally charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The four men have previously made court appearances and will reappear later this month. The woman, who was arrested today, will make her first appearance at Levin District Court on Thursday (10 February).
