1 min read

Police are investigating a serious car crash on North Shore early today.

Police went to the scene of the accident at the on ramp to the Northern motorway near the intersection with Constellation Drive, at about 4.00am this morning Friday 24 November 2006.

Constable Jessie Beckett of the Serious Crash Unit says when police arrived at the scene they found that a Nissan Station Wagon had lost control, hit a light standard, and rolled several times.

"The five occupants in the vehicle were all teenagers aged between 15 and 18 years of age. Four of the occupants are male, one is female. All received moderate to serious injuries," Constable Beckett said.

Three of the occupants are in Auckland Hospital. The status of one of the males is described as critical and life threatening. The female occupant has moderate injuries. Her status and that of a second male is considered to be stable. Two other male occupants are in North Shore Hospital where their injury status is also described as stable.

Speed appears to be a contributing factor to this crash but it will be some days before Serious Crash Unit investigators can establish the actual cause," said Constable Beckett.

Anyone who has witnessed this accident or was in the vicinity of Constellation Drive at about 3.45am this morning is requested to contact Constable Jessie Beckett at the Serious Crash Unit on Telephone 09 481 0306.
