"Since these men appeared another man was arrested during the early hours of this morning following a burglary at an Ulster St motel.

"Stopped by City Section staff on Boundary Rd about 2am a 33-year-old Hamilton man was arrested in relation to a stolen car. Subsequent enquiries revealed he was a person of interest in relation to the Ellicott Rd investigation."

Mr Thornton said this man appeared in the Hamilton District Court today on a variety of charges which included three counts of kidnapping, two counts of threatening to kill, burglary, aggravated burglary, unlawfully taking a motor-vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm and sexual assault.

"These court appearances resulted from a series of intensive investigations which has been made all the successful thanks to the dedication of the enquiry team and support from the public which we would like to acknowledge," said Mr Thornton.
