Taranaki Man Arrested for Orewa Stabbing

1 min read

Orewa Police investigating a vicious stabbing on the beach foreshore last weekend have arrested and charged a 28 year old New Plymouth man with Wounding with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm. The offence carries a penalty of 14 years imprisonment.

The Taranaki man who is described as a sickness beneficiary has appeared in a late call at the North Shore District Court this afternoon and has been remanded on bail until 22 March 2007.

Kyle David HORN entered no plea when he appeared in Court.

Police say the charge is the result of an alleged assault on a 26 year old Pacific Island man. The victim received serious facial and other injuries from a knife or similar sharp instrument during an unprovoked frenzied attack at Orewa Beach at 1.40am on Saturday 3 February 2007.

The victim is now slowly recovering from his devastating ordeal but he'll be returning to Hospital next week to have his left eye surgically removed.

Police express their gratitude to the public and the media for their valuable assistance with helping to locate the two persons Police were seeking.

Police have spoken to a female associate. She has not been charged.
