A woman died when her car left the road and crashed into a tree east of Halcombe in the Manawatu this afternoon.
Senior Sergeant Nigel Allan, Feilding Police, said a passing motorist spotted the wreckage down a bank east of Halcombe and alerted emergency services at 1.30pm.
It’s unclear just when and how the crash on Halcombe Road happened. Roads in the area were wet this afternoon but it’s not known if this was a contributor to the crash.
The 59-year-old woman was the only occupant of the car and no other vehicle was involved. Her name will not be released until family notifications have been completed.
