Elderly man missing

1 min read

A 71 year-old man has been missing from his Lynfield home in Halsey Drive since about 11am on Wednesday, February 14 and Police have concerns for his safety and wellbeing. A missing person report was filled out by a family member yesterday morning but efforts by Avondale Police to find him have so far been unsuccessful.

It's believed he may still be travelling by car - a blue Toyota Corolla with the registration number WX5686 - and was on the southern motorway heading north about 2km south of the Princes St off-ramp at about midday yesterday.

Albert Ignatius Maher is described as Asian, of skinny build with black hair flecked with grey. He stands about 170 cm tall and has brown eyes. He suffers at times from dementia and is probably disoriented.

He was last seen by his neighbour on Wednesday morning wearing navy blue trousers, a white polo shirt, a green jersey and prescription glasses. He usually carries a royal blue coloured belt bag slung over his shoulder. He speaks good English.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Constable Julia Bixley at the Avondale Police on 027 243 4214 or call the Police Northern Communications Centre.
