1 min read

Police will lay further charges today in Lower Hutt District Court against a 30-year-old male in relation to the stabbing of three young children in their Naenae home on 18 February.

Lower Hutt Police will lay three charges of attempted murder in relation to each of the three children and a charge of kidnapping in relation to their mother, says Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Levy of Lower Hutt CIB.

So far Police had only laid one charge of assaulting a child. Since the incident they have been speaking to members of the public and continuing their investigation to establish what occurred.

A 30-year-old male was remanded in custody on 19 February for a psychological assessment.

All three children - a boy aged 8 weeks, and his sisters aged 18 months and three years - required surgery for extensive injuries. The children have been transferred from Wellington to Lower Hutt Hospital and are expected to be discharged in the near future.
