Second early morning attack around Tory Street

1 min read

Wellington Police are seeking witnesses to another assault in the Tory Street/Courtney Place area.

At about 3.20am this morning, a man was subjected to an unprovoked assault by two men, adjacent to Starmart, Tory Street.

During the assault a victim was punched several times, thrown to the ground and had his pockets searched.

As a result of the assault, the victim received bruising to the face and a cut to the head which required suturing.

One attacker is described as:

Male

Polynesian/Maori

20-25 years old

180-185cm tall

Solidly built

Short number 1 haircut

Dark coloured T-shirt

The attack stopped when a friend of the victim intervened.

The two attackers ran over to an orange coloured van with tinted windows and drove off.

Of note was the word "OFFERS" on the rear window of the van.

It is unclear whether this incident is related to the assault on the German tourist.
