Rodney Police investigating the sexual violation of a young Japanese female have arrested a 29 year old Orewa man and charged him with unlawful sexual connection and aggravated robbery.
The victim told Police she was walking on the footpath by Maygrove Park, Orewa, at about 9.00pm on Tuesday 20 March 2007, when an unknown male suddenly attacked her. She was sexually assaulted.
Japanese interpreters provided valuable assistance to investigators.
The arrested man has appeared in the North Shore District Court. He has been remanded in custody to reappear again on Monday on two charges of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, and one charge of aggravated robbery. No plea has been entered.
