1 min read

Police seek the support of media in respecting the privacy and recognising the grief process of the family and friends of Shaun Fitzpatrick who died after a car crash on January 7.

Media can support the family and friends by not contacting them.

Police are continuing their investigation into the death of 22 year old Shaun Fitzpatrick in a car crash on Saturday January 7 at the intersection of Carbine Road and the South Eastern Highway.

As part of that investigation a white motor vehicle was seized from a South Auckland address.

It is believed that vehicle was driven at speed through the intersection moments before the fatal crash involving Mr Fitzpatrick and a stolen Subaru.

A 17 year old youth from South Auckland is due to appear in Auckland District Court on Thursday January 12 charged with Dangerous Driving.

Police are yet to complete their investigation of the crash. Following that there will be a review of all evidence including the charge of dangerous driving. It is possible further charges will be laid.
