Arrest for assault arising from Wellington Occupy removal

1 min read

Wellington Police have arrested and charged a 52-year-old man after a security guard was assaulted during the removal of Occupy protesters in Wellington yesterday.

Inspector Paris Razos, Wellington Emergency Response Manager, said the man has been bailed to appear in the Wellington District Court on Friday.

The arrest follows a complaint that a security guard who was filming events as part of the removal phase had a video camera pushed into his face resulting in two minor cuts to his forehead.

The site used by Occupy protesters is now clear and has been fenced off to further use.
