Search for helicopter continues

The search for a missing helicopter, with one person on board, is continuing today at Lake Sumner in North Canterbury.

Police have advised that late this morning search teams confirmed the location of an oil slick on the lake, in deep water approximately 150 metres offshore from Breaksea Bay. However, the helicopter has not been located.

The search operation is continuing at Lake Sumner, with four two-person boat teams four two-person land-based teams, dive squad and helicopter continuing to scour the area around the lake and shoreline.

Details of the missing pilot are not being released at this stage as next of kin are still being notified.
