Crimestoppers has announced the offer of a $25,000 reward for information which leads to the location of missing West Coast man Hugh Charles McAllister and Police are hoping the reward will prompt someone to come forward with more information.
The last known sighting of Mr McAllister was at 3pm on Thursday 21 January 2010 leaving his Greenstone River gold claim, near Kumara in Westland.
His Mitsubishi ute was located upstream from the claim but, despite extensive air and ground searches, Mr McAllister has not been located or heard from since.
Nelson detectives spent time in April this year on the West Coast re-examining the case in the hope of unearthing new information about the disappearance. Nothing significant was found.
Police are still treating Mr McAllister's disappearance as a missing person case, but in the absence of substantial evidence as to what has happened to him they are keeping an open mind about his fate.
Police hope the Crimestoppers reward will prompt someone to come forward with new information.
Crimestoppers has stated that the reward money will be paid for material information or evidence which leads to the locating of Mr McAllister.
Crimestoppers will determine the amount of the reward and will, if necessary, apportion payment where there is more than one claimant.
The offer remains in force until 1 December 2012.
