Asian Female Pedestrian Dies After Accident In Panmure

The Auckland Serious Crash Unit is appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured while crossing the road in the suburb of Panmure this morning.

Police say that about 10.15am this morning, Thursday 12 July 2007, an elderly pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that was travelling in the south bound lane in Jellicoe Road, Panmure.

The 60 year old Asian female has since died in Auckland Hospital from injuries received in the accident. The deceased victim's Next of Kin are yet to be notified of the tragedy.

The driver of a truck carrying a mini skip witnessed the incident and Police now want to speak to this driver and any other witnesses who were in the area of Jellicoe Road at the time.

Police understand that the truck had stopped to let the deceased victim cross Jellicoe Road on a pedestrian crossing. The driver of this truck has a prosthetic limb on his right arm. Police say they want to talk to the driver about the accident which he has witnessed.

Police are also urging the driver of the vehicle that allegedly struck the deceased victim to contact them.
