Christchurch Police investigating the aggravated robbery of a Redwood bar have released security camera images from the incident.

Three offenders armed with firearms and a crowbar entered Coasters Tavern in Daniels Road shortly after 11.00pm on Friday, and forced staff and patrons to lie down while they emptied out the safe, tills and pokie drawer of an undisclosed sum of cash.

Head of the investigation, Detective Sergeant Richard Quested, says the images from the security cameras are providing police with a good line of enquiry.

"At least one of the three offenders is partly visible in these images," he says. "We are now appealing to the public for any help they can give police in identifying those responsible for this crime.

“We also want to hear from anybody who may have seen any suspicious or unusual activity in the area around the Redwood shops and Daniels Road on Friday night."

Two offenders were described as wearing black clothing, while the third was wearing blue overalls.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Christchurch police on (03) 3637400. Alternatively, to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
