Empty-handed robber wanted

Avondale CIB are appealing for information about a man who unsuccessfully attempted a robbery at the ASB bank in Avondale at 10.37 this morning.

The young man covered his face with a bandana or scarf before confronting a male customer at the bank with a knife but was chased from the bank by the customer and a security guard.

He was last seen running down Wingate St in Avondale. His ethnicity is unknown but he was wearing a green hooded jumper and blue jeans and was carrying a black bag and a large kitchen knife.
