Four charged over alleged high speed car trip

Four males have been charged over an alleged high speed car trip in North Canterbury yesterday.

A police pursuit was called off just before 3pm yesterday near Culverden after a Falcon car allegedly reached speeds in the vicinity of 200km/hr. The black Flacon car was later found to have been stolen.

A 23 year old male has been charged with reckless driving, burglary, and two charges of unlawful taking- one in relation to the Falcon. He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Christchurch District court tomorrow. Three co offenders, (details below) all in their early twenties, will appear later in the week.

A male offender has been charged with receiving (in relation to the above burglary) unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle. driving while forbidden.

A second male co offender has been charged with unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

A third male co offender has been charged with receiving, (in relation to above burglary) and unlawfully getting in to a motor vehicle. Inquiries are continuing.
