Woman's death investigated in Wainuiomata

Lower Hutt Police are investigating the death of a 22 year old Wainuiomata woman.

Police were called to a flat in Wellington Road, Wainuiomata around 5.30 pm last night, Friday 12 October. The deceased was on a bed at the address with family members present.

The circumstances of the death are unclear. A post mortem is being held at Wellington Hospital today on behalf of the coroner.

Detectives and forensic experts are conducting a scene examination of the house, and talking with those who were at the house when the woman died. The name of the deceased will not be released today as some family members are yet to be informed.

Further information will be able to be released once the result of the post mortem is known.
