Police investigating after discovery of body

Christchurch Police are conducting a scene examination following the discovery of a body in South Hagley Park this afternoon.

Police were called to the location, near Deans Avenue, at around 12.40pm today after a member of the public contacted Police.

The body, believed to be that of a male teenager, was found in an open, water-filled drain.

Police say it is too early to determine whether the circumstances are suspicious.

The site has been cordoned off and a full forensic examination is now under way.
