1 min read

Wellington Police have released the name of a man who died at the scene of a two-car crash early yesterday on Karo Drive, central city.

He was Karl Jeffrey Edwards, 28, from Upper Hutt.

Inspector Kevin Riordan, Wellington Police Emergency Response Manager, said police are yet to speak with the driver of the second car involved, a 27-year-old woman, as she is still seriously ill in hospital.

The crash happened a few minutes after midnight where the Karo Drive urban bypass intersects with upper Willis and Abel Smith Streets.

"We still have a range of inquiries to make before the crash investigation is completed," Inspector Riordan says. "We've talked with some witnesses but would like to hear from other motorists or pedestrians who were in the Upper Willis Street and Karo Drive area around the time the crash happened."

People who can help with information are asked to contact Inspector Riordan at Wellington Police on telephone 04 381 2000.
