Christchurch Police have confirmed a cyclist has been killed in a crash which occurred at the intersection of Breezes Road and Wainoni Road this morning.
The cyclist is a female aged in her 50s. She was pronounced deceased by ambulance staff at the scene. No other details of the person are available at present.
The crash occurred shortly after 9.00am this morning. Initial enquiries indicate the cyclist was struck by a motor vehicle which was turning from Wainoni Road into Breezes Road.
Police have spoken to the driver of the car at the scene, and are interviewing witnesses to the crash.
The police serious crash unit is now examining the site. The intersection is currently closed and police expect cordons to remain in place until later this morning.
