Police can now name the 16-year-old woman who was killed in a single vehicle crash on Bainesse Road, Rangiotu this morning.
Courtney Oddessa Hagley of Rongotea died after the car she was driving veered off the road and collided with a tree.
The sole passenger in the vehicle was Miss Hagley's 17-year-old boyfriend. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to Palmerston North Hospital for treatment.
A temporary road closure was in place on Bainesse Road but this has since been lifted.
Police are continuing their investigation and are working to establish the cause of the crash. The death has now been referred to the coroner.
