A 75 year-old Remuera woman is missing her car and several hundred dollars in cash after she was accosted by a male intruder in her own home at about 10am yesterday.

The woman, who lives alone, investigated noises at her front door. While she was distracted by a man at the front door asking for an unknown person, a second person entered her home via a back door and, after rummaging through the upstairs part of the house, accosted the woman downstairs and demanded money.

The two offenders, described as either Maori or Polynesian and aged between 20 and 30, left the property in the woman's 1998 eternal blue two-door Honda Prelude VTIR and a small quantity of cash.

Investigating officers have established that other properties in the immediate vicinity down the right-of-way where the woman lives were also disturbed yesterday morning by what appear to have been opportunist thieves.

Police want to hear from anyone who has seen the stolen vehicle, registration number DPD488 and anyone with information about who the offenders might be and where they can be located.

Information should go to Glen Innes CIB on 0274967886, or mark.osbourne@police.govt.nz Anonymous callers can phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
