Second arrest in Porirua homicide

Porirua Police have arrested a second man and charged him with the murder of Fitzgerald Risati, 24, in Cannons Creek early on Saturday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, head of Porirua CIB, said the 32-year-old Porirua man was arrested late last night and will appear in the Napier District Court this morning.

He will also be charged with the attempted murder of Fitzgerald's younger brother Risati Risati, 21, and a charge of unlawful assembly.

Detectives had travelled to Napier to locate the man.

Detective Senior Sergeant Oxnam said the arrest followed an intensive investigation by police.

Police will be seeking a remand to the Porirua District Court.

"We are pleased that the two men we were seeking have been arrested," Detective Senior Sergeant Oxnam said. "The pain however continues for the Risati family. Their lives have changed forever."
