ATTACKERS ARRESTED - TO COURT TODAY

Two males are to appear in the North Shore District Court and another in the Youth Court after their arrest overnight for two separate violent assaults on two couples at Milford Beach and Takapuna early on Tuesday.

The two men are from the North Shore suburb of Glenfield.

Both are aged 18 years. The Piha youth is aged 16 years

All are charged with Aggravated Robbery in relation to each of the four victims. Further serious charges are being considered based on the medical status of the victims.

Detective Sergeant Scott ARMSTRONG of the North Shore CIB says three of those arrested were a direct result of a combination of factors including information provided by the public, and media publicity given to the attacks.

Another male who is an associate of the three men was arrested during an incident in which a 17 year old youth was attacked on Takapuna Beach at about 6.45pm last night. The victim in this incident has minor injuries and is recovering in North Shore Hospital.

Three teams of investigators have worked long hours to achieve these arrests and we are satisfied with the outcome so far. Our enquiries are not yet complete and there is still more to be done, Mr ARMSTRONG said.

All those charged will appear in the North Shore District Court today.
