26 March 2008

Hamilton detectives are currently interviewing two people following an unsuccessful attempted robbery of a city dairy early this evening.

Details are still being established but it appears two people entered the store on the corner of Ohaupo and Normandy roads about 6pm and attempted to rob the store at knife point.

The store owner, who suffered a cut to the head in the struggle, managed to flee the store and together with passers-by was able to block the offenders in the store until Police arrived.

The victim has since been taken to Waikato Hospital for treatment.

After a period of about 40 minutes negotiation, the offenders gave themselves up to Police.

A man and a woman are currently being interviewed by Police and further details are not available at this time.
